Movies & TV series & Books

Hey guys! In this post I recommend you some stuff I recently enjoyed watching or reading. Be aware that I’m the romance-comedy-mysterious-drama-person ^^

Recently I watched a movie called ”A Walk to Remember“. The movie is set and was created in the late 90s. The plot is like this: In high school one of the “cool” boys falls in love with a nerdy weird girl, albeit not on purpose. It’s like a typical teeny romance movie which I normally dislike. I’m more the romance-comedy-mysterious-drama person. However the best part of the movie is when the couple is dancing to the song called “Dancing in the Moonlight”. It’s a really catchy song, but I couldn’t remember the whole melody so I was trying to find it on YouTube. The problem was that I couldn’t open a single video, because the infamous restriction message “this video is not available in your country” (but now I have my ways to get through haha) didn’t let me, which I think is actually pretty ridiculous, because shouldn’t internet/YouTube be open for everyone?. After that I texted a friend wondering if she could send me the song. She sent me the original version and a remake, they were both great and I couldn’t resist but to listen to it all day. The original version gave me a kind of nostalgic feeling which I do like. However after listening to it so many times I couldn’t take it anymore and turned it off.
I realized that even when you watch bad movies you can actually benefit from them, for example, by getting to know a great song just like I did. Despite the fact that movies are giving joy to viewers another benefit you can get is an inspirational fabulous fashion-style or, for example, meaningful quotes. One of my favourite quotes I remember from a movie is “You like living short stories, but I’m kinda ready for the novel…you know?” (the movie is: happythankyoumoreplease)
Basically, watching movies or series in a foreign language can give you a great insight into a foreign lifestyle and culture, but of course it’s not done by watching only one movie though. After watching several different movies or series in their original language the major benefit you can get is the improvement of your language skills. Isn’t it convenient to improve your knowledge of a foreign language and lifestyle?
Apparently movies are just like teachers or role models. They inspire you, teach you, but they can also influence you in a negative way. For example I once watched some movies in which people were wasting food by throwing fresh food away or were throwing food at each other. I think bad manners like that are really bad for viewers. Especially children can be easily influenced by such bad actions. In contrast, some series are using their influence to be good role models for viewers. For example the protagonists of some series (actually it’s Desperate Housewives) weren’t just using regular grocery bags from a supermarket; instead of plastic bags they used a green grocery bag with a big recycle sign on it. For the future this is a good step to show eco-friendliness in the media ..so viewers are taking it for granted. You can also regard the message of a movie as a wise old lady who is trying to teach us what matters in life and what actually is the right moral thing to do. It can be shown through bad or good experiences of the protagonists. But of course there are a lot of dumb movies out there which are a waste of our energy. Still, our creativity can be sparked by the imagination of how the movie could have been done better.
After all, what I like the most is that when I have finished watching a really good movie and then go to sleep it’ll hunt me all night. Yes! And it isn’t scary at all…When you lie in bed you reconsider the message of the movie or simply imagine great scenes again. ~ And don’t be afraid of trying out movies you don’t know - you’ll definitely benefit either way.

Books:
I actually recommend every book written by Cecelia Ahern. Her books are romantic, sometimes funny and it contains a bit of fantasy. However my favourite is “Where Rainbows End” (Fuer immer vielleicht).
“An enchanting novel about two childhood friends whom fate and destiny can't help toying with! From naughty children to rebellious teenagers, Rosie and Alex have stuck by each other through thick and thin. But just as they're discovering the joys of teenage nights on the town and dating disasters, they're separated. Alex's family moves from Dublin to America -- and Alex goes with them. For good. Rosie's lost without her best friend. But on the eve of her departure to join Alex in Boston, Rosie gets news that will change her life forever -- and keep her at home in Ireland. Their magical connection sees them through the ups and downs of each other's lives but neither of them knows whether their friendship can really survive the years and miles -- as well as new relationships. And at the back of Rosie's mind is whether they were meant to be more than just good friends all along. Misunderstandings, circumstances and sheer bad luck have kept them out of each others' arms, but when presented with the ultimate opportunity, will they gamble everything -- including their friendship -- for true love? Destiny, Alex and Rosie discover, is a funny thing and fate isn't quite done with them yet!” source

A short review of Korea 2010

Right now I’m having this deep nostalgia of Korea. I miss my big family, the taste of awesome food, the wicked shopping, adventurous nightlife, just the whole lifestyle and my awesome secondary residence. I looked at all these photos I made last year and thought that I could do a short review on my blog J
Let’s begin! This was my summer 2010 (June-August)~!
There are three words how I can describe my stay: weird, kinda regretful and dizzy.
Yess, I kinda regret how I socialized.. (don’t take it in a wrong way, haha), BUT all in all it was amazing as always!

Isn’t this a standard photo every passionate photographer takes while flying? Hahaha

Being over the clouds so many times made me to a Morning Calm Member of Korean Air and finally I have access to the morning calm lounge and I can benefit some of their awesome service ! You can eat, drink, relax and take a shower, too. Hehe. It looks like this:

Living in a big city like SEOUL makes you dynamic and all loosen up ..that’s what I love and want! Especially having dates or meet up with friends is so much more fun!
There are so much public transportations and a lot of stores have open till midnight or 24h. I love night shopping, all these coffee shops, multi cafes, cosmetic stores, karaoke bars, etc. …btw Multi-Cafes are awesome!!!!

Review: Multi Café TANIA (do likey)
These cafes are just like normal cafes, but instead of sitting on chairs you have your own room! It’s decorated really cute and clean. It’s stuffed with cushions, there’s a TV with a Nintendo Wii and outside is a buffet (drinks, cookies, ice cream etc.) For a couple it costs 14000Won = 9 Euro (The price is various depending on daytime, nighttime, people, extra services etc.) . This is a perfect location to go as a couples or just with girlfriends.  Isn’t it awesome to have had a boyfriend who took you to all these pretty places? ^^

At my aunts home we ordered some food!~ I miss 자장면 (jajangmyun)!

<-- I forced myself to play Blue Marble with him hahah.. however I lost…..

This is the “chesa” of my great grandmother, it’s like a memorial day of a deceased family member which is of course every year. I like how the family comes together and prepare the food. The ceremony begins at noon and right after we eat all together ~

Review: VIPS Steak & Salad Restaurant
My aunt invited us for lunch at VIPS ! And I just can say this restaurant is totally awesome!!! It’s my second time there and it definitely won’t be the last time.

When you order the “salad bar” (it’s a buffet..so it rules “All you can eat”) you can eat like EVERYTHING, the variety and the freshness of food is amazing!!! From pizza to cake to Korean noodles, spaghetti, chicken, sea food, ice cream, fruits, bread, soup, all sorts of salads, burritos etc. And everything tastes AMAZING. Furthermore the kind service and the quality of food makes it unbelievable. Basically you can order steak and/or the salad bar. Just writing about this makes me so hungry.. ㅜㅜ omg, I miss it so much. And the best part…the lunch salad bar costs only ~18.000Won = ~12€ !!!

My “little” brother and I at “Gwanghwamun” it’s in the center of Seoul~

Anywhere I went songs like “I need a girl” and “bad girl, good girl” were played in public. Whenever I listen to these songs it reminds me of summer 2010 ^^ .
Taeyang’s “I need a girl”
Miss A’s “Bad girl, good girl”
Sadly I was so busy that I didn’t take much photos, but there’s always a next time ^^ Peace guys!~

Scotch Whiskey as an accessory box?

SAM_5506

Yes, I made my own accessory box with the left package of Ballantine’s Scotch Whiskey haha... My aunt was about to throwing the packaging in the trash and I was like “what a waste! the packaging is so pretty” Therefore I took it and made my own accessory box! ^_^ I just had to rip the bottle cage out of the box and here it is! *aaaaah* (*angel chant*)

The little green box is a freebie from Anna Sui. Check out my Anna Sui review! :)

Review: Anna Sui Fragrance

Anna Sui is an American brand which is pretty popular in the USA and Asia. Germany has Anna Sui stores, too, but they don’t offer all the products...

When I was in Korea my mother’s friend gave me this!
Currently the live your dream perfume is my favourite. Well, I’m really bad at describing fragrances, so I just can say it smells nice and.. elegant …lol. I think it is about $60, it’s not that expensive.
“Live your dream” Perfume, nail polish & body lotion

Look at the cute packaging! It’s so adorable~~

When everything is used, I will keep the packaging! haha

I especially like the fragrance of Anna Sui. The body lotion and even the nail polish do have a similar scent as the perfume. do likey!
See how much I used, nooooo ㅜㅜ

This color is sooo pretty; I recommend using it as a top coat and not as I did in the photo below.

Here’s a freebie I got by buying the three products!! It’s a mini jewelry box~

Check out how I made my own accessory box ^^ click here

It's not an advertising! Just my personal view of their pretty packaging and stuff ;)

Pink Gradation Nails ~ㅇ~

Once the girlfriend (maybe ex-gf?) of my cousin made my nails like this.
I think this nailart technique is pretty cool, so I wanna share it with you guys.

~Let's begin ^^~

I am using: a base coat, a light pinkish color, a bold neon-pink color and a transparent pink with glitter as a top coat. As you can see I'm using Skinfood nailpolishes which i got from korea as well as Etude.
Of course you can use any other colors which blend well together. The most important thing you need is the sponge.

Begin with clean nails and apply the base coat. (optional)

You have to cut your sponge in a size that fits good on your nails.

Apply the two colors (or more) on the sponge.

Dab it on your nails. Don't worry to be messy :D

Wait until it's semi-dry and apply a glitter nailpolish (use one which has bigger flakes) [!]

Clean up the edges and ....

You're done~

There is also another way to achieve a nice gradation which I will post.... someday :D

Dot-dot-dots

Pastel “EnvyGreen”

It's spring!~~
And while I was in the mood I used a bright greenish nailpolish and put some white dots on.
..very cute, isn't it? ~

I used my Nintendo DS pen to put the dots on …lol
(it actually works very well!)

Oh my.. Onion Rings!

Some days ago I made oOoOonion rings!

These are really crispy and of course I use Heinz' Ketchup...yummy

I got this recipe from foodwhishes , I really recommend the chef… he’s awesome! He uploads a lot of recipes on youtube and he also has a blog.
